DERMagic - Hot Spot Salve

Hot Spots can appear anywhere on your pet's body for a wide number of reasons. The main cause of Hot Spots is a skin infection, causing intense itchiness which makes your pet scratch and lick but that only makes the situation worse. With the DERMagic Hot Spot Salve, you can provide your pet with some much needed relief! This organic whole-leaf aloe vera gel with vitamin E helps penetrate to the deepest layers of the skin to deliver anti-viral, bacterial, and fungal elements to fight the cause of the acute dermatitis. How to Use

The DERMagic Hot Spot Salve is the pet parent go-to for providing relief for their itchy pets. It's easy to use and safe to ingest even if your pet continues licking after the first couple of treatments.

For Best Results:

Carefully clip all the hair around the Hot Spot, this allows air to dry out the excess moisture and helps the Hot Spot Salve to reach all areas of the wound. Use a small amount of the Hot Spot Salve to cover the entire wound, gently rub the salve into the wound to ensure there is a thin layer of the salve on the entire wound.

You may wish to keep the area covered with a sock or t-shirt to prevent your pet from licking the salve off until a hard scab has formed and itching has stopped. Please note that there is nothing harmful or toxic in this product that would make your your pet ill in case of ingestion.

Reapply the DERMagic Hot Spot Salve once or twice per day until symptoms disappear.

Note: Always consult with your veterinarian before beginning any skin treatments to ensure that any underlying causes for skin issues have been ruled out.

What's the difference between the Hot Spot Salve, Skin Rescue Lotion, and Cell Restoration Creme?

The Hot Spot Salve, Skin Rescue Lotion, and Cell Restoration Creme are great products to help get your pet's skin back on track. The DERMagic Hot Spot Salve is the strongest concentration lotion for treating Hot Spots and other skin infections. The DERMagic Skin Rescue Lotion, available in 2 sizes, is a diluted version of the DERMagic Hot Spot Salve and is great for covering a large area of skin that may be infected. Finally, the DERMagic Cell Restoration Creme targets dry and irritated skin to restore the skins natural protective barrier.

What is a Hot Spot?

Hot spots are described as an inflammation and infection of the skin, sometimes caused by self-trauma such as what happens when a dog scratches or bites at the irritated area. Hot spots can arise from an allergic reaction, from an underlying infection, or just from a dog biting and scratching at an itchy place. Our Skin Rescue Lotion or Hot Spot Salve can be used to eliminate hot spots fast.

How can I prevent hot spots?

Hot spots are almost always caused by an underlying infection or allergy or even a flea bite, any of which can be very difficult to identify. With good diet, active flea prevention and good grooming, hot spots will be minimized. But almost every dog will suffer from hot spots at some time in his life, no matter how well cared for. Always have DERMagic Skin Rescue Lotion or Hot Spot Salve on hand for those occasions.

My dog itches and scratches constantly. Can DERMagic help?

Yes, DERMagic products are designed to reduce irritation and itching. Many DERMagic products are specifically designed to reduce dandruff and eliminate excess oils which may cause irritation to your pet. By using various essential oils and other soothing ingredients, DERMagic products can help to reduce itchy skin for many pets.

Can DERMagic products help with allergies?

An allergy is a reaction to a specific allergen, such as dirt and pollen. Our products cannot cure an allergy, however the secondary response is itching and scratching, which opens the skin and leads to infection, hot spots, sores, hair loss and potentially mange. We recommend you start off with the DERMagic System to eliminate the itching/scratching cycle before it leads to bigger problems.

Why is it recommended to put my pet in a t-shirt or baby socks during treatment?

DERMagic products work to eliminate the underlying infection or irritation but it's very important that the products stay on the skin to be effective. While it won't harm your pet if he licks the product off, it works much better from the outside rather than the inside! So we recommend covering the affected area to prevent your pet from licking it off.

How do I know how much product to apply to my pet?

The amount of product that you will need to use for your pet will depend on a variety of factors, including the size of your pet, the hair type of your pet, the specific condition they have, and the severity of their condition. As a simple rule of thumb, start with less product and add more until the entire affected area is covered with a thin layer.

When will I see results?

It depends. Some pets may begin to show improvement after a few uses of the DERMagic products, while others may take several months. It all depends on your pet's specific conditon, severity of the condition, and your pet's unique physiology and skin composition. Patience and a regular treatment schedule are key for ensuring that these products can do their job for your pet.

My pet's skin is red and irritated, are they having a bad reaction to the product?

Red, slightly inflammed skin is common within the first few treatments. This occurs from the products working on the cellular level to purge the dead skin and any infections. The body is working with the ingredients in the products to remove the harmful materials, which may appear as red or inflammed skin, flakiness, and even a brownish-tinge to an area. This should clear up with a few more treatments. If the discoloration, inflammation, and flakiness do not improve or your pet seems particularly irritated with the area, consult your veterinarian to ensure they are not having an adverse reaction to the products.

My pet is having an adverse reaction to the product, what should I do?

While uncommon, it is possible for your pet to have an adverse reaction to the products. If this occurrs, immediately discontinue use and contact your veterinarian. You may wash your pet with clean water to remove any product that may be on their skin and coat to stop the reaction from progressing.
