Flexiness Sensimat - FitPaws

pet experience level

The Flexiness Sensimats by FitPAWS are special friction mats that are especially designed to improve paw grip, stability, and sensation on flat surfaces. These mats can be used in a variety of ways either as a stand-alone product or with other FitPAWS equipment to best serve your pets' recovery. Trainers often use these mats to improve foot awareness on flat surfaces, improve the dog position and ability to shift weight, and introduce dogs to the sensation of the nubs on other FitPAWS equipment, such as the K9FIT bones, balance discs, and TRAX donuts.

FitPAWS products have been designed specifically for dogs and are trusted by thousands of fitness and rehabilitation professionals, clinics, training facilities, and pet parents. FitPAWS strives to  help strengthen muscles, increase range of motion and flexibility, engage neuromuscular facilitation, provide sensory and perceptual stimulation, joint alignment and balance control in all types of pets. Whether your pet is involved in sporting activities or just a house-pet, core strength is necessary for your dog to control its body during movements like running, jumping, and turning. Fitness Training is also a great way to help prevent injuries!

  • Straight: All nubs are the same height and rounded on the tops. This is an easier nub pattern for dogs so it's good for puppies and inexperienced dogs.
  • Wavy: Three different heights of nubs that are rounded at the tops and form "valleys" where the dog can place their feet. This mat is particularly good for stack training.

Proprioception and neural Stimulation

Flexiness Sensimats can be used to improve foot awareness on flat surfaces that don't require balance, and introduce dogs to the sensation of the nubs on other FitPAWS equipment. Simply place the Sensimat on the floor and ask your dog to walk across the Sensimat. You can also ask your dog to sit or lay down on the Sensimat to switch up the sensation.

Increasing Paw Grip

The Sensimats are also often used with or on the Giant Rocker Board or Wobble Board to improve dog positioning and ability to shift their weight. These mats may also be used on platforms to define space for the dog.

Why fitpaws fitness?

FitPAWS Canine Conditioning Equipment is the #1 brand of fitness and rehab equipment for dogs! The combination of physical and mental exercises is absolutely critical to a well-balanced dog. FitPAWS Products are a great way to exercise your dog mentally and physically at the same time. FitPAWS Products  combine dog-specific equipment that provides fun dog fitness that you can do at home, outside, in a rehab facility, or anywhere that you need it!

Is the Flexiness sensimat a good beginner tool?

Yes. The Flexiness Sensimat is a great option for pets who are beginners with rehab equipment. This rehab tool is textured enough to introduce your pet to the sensations of other rehab equipment while stimulating them enough to be its own beneficial tool.

The sensory nubs should not hurt your dog, though some dogs may not like the feeling of the nubs since it is a new sensation. They are made of the same flexible material as the rest of the product and will slightly compress when your dog stands on them. The sensory nubs aid in sensory input for your dog, meaning they help your dog feel what is under them more than they would with a smooth surface. They also help with paw grip when using balance products.

Are FitPAWS rehab tools good for puppies?

FitPAWS products are perfect for helping get rid of a puppy's excess energy, while giving them a beneficial physical and mental ‘job’ by engaging them in new games, tricks, and behaviors. Many of the FitPAWS tools are low-impact and you can start training your puppy with them as early as 8 weeks, starting with 3–5 minute training sessions. Improving your puppy’s core strength, confidence, and body awareness puts them on track to living a longer, happier, and healthier life. A more active lifestyle strengthens your puppy to help prevent future injuries and benefits their overall well-being.

What can the Flexiness Sensimat be used for?

The Flexiness Sensimats are a great tool to introduce your pet to the new sensations of other rehab equipment. The three different types of nubs on the Senimats challenge your pet to walk on new grounds without being an unstable surface. The nubs also help to improve neural sensation in paws which further helps to improve paw position and posture.

how long will this product last?

With proper care, this product should last 1-2 years. However, you should always check the equipment before and after each use to ensure there are no signs of excessive wear. Always replace the equipment if there are any signs of wear.
