In February 2011, Kenai, a 2 year old, 120 lb, Great Dane was running around her back yard enjoying a crisp winter day. Kenai had just been adopted from a rescue group in Tennessee five months earlier and since she came into my family she has been one happy little girl.
She has a Great Dane sister named Akela, a nice fenced in back yard, more toys than she knows what to do with and a human Mommy that loves her dearly. However, on one winter day Kenai received an injury that would cause us much pain, suffering and heartache for a long time to come.
